Its design permits listening from 20" away, while still keeping the possibility of the monitors at a great distance from one another without damaging the soundstage. The 5” mid-woofer reaches down to 55Hz, while offering a controlled bass and a totally linear midrange. The midrange register of the CMS 50 has unequalled neutrality in its price range. The Aluminum-Magnesium inverted dome tweeter offers outstanding dynamics and a degree of definition in the treble that allow precise measurement of reverb and other effects which are normally very difficult to assess.

The CMS 50 is packed with all the technologies 100% Made in France for which Focal is so renowned. The 5" (13cm) woofer with its frequency response of 55Hz provides sustained bass and a totally linear lower mid-range. This gives the mid-range unrivalled neutrality in this price category. As to the Aluminum/Magnesium inverted dome tweeter, it offers remarkable dynamics and a definition in the high end which enables you to precisely balance the reverb tails. Finally, very-high-end bi-amplification made it possible to combine low harmonic distortion with a wide dynamic range.

The CMS 50 features numerous settings to suit the acoustic constraints of small monitoring rooms. Through their compact design and their large front laminar port, they can be installed near a wall without the risk of exaggeration or loss of control of the bass register. The balanced inputs (XLR) and unbalanced inputs (RCA) are both processed electronically to compensate for the difference noticed with these two types of connectors.
